Kenjutsu is different from Kendo, while Kendo kendo offers competition and a sense of victory, kenjutsu concentrates strategy and on the correct use of the Japanese sword.

Kenjutsu also has a close relationship with the art and practice of Aikido. Many of the movements and techniques of kenjutsu and jodo (the art of the staff) are reflected in traditional Aikido.
