    MANUAL DE SEIKIKAI

    ¿What Are Aikido Classes Like?

The adult classes of Aikido are varied and interesting. All classes begin with approximately ten minutes of warm-ups after which there are about 50 minutes of applied Aikido technique.

It is best to arrive about ten minutes before the start of class in order to prepare yourself for the class. This will give you time to change clothes and enter the tatami and begin stretching for the class.

Since this is a martial discipline, arriving late indicates a lack of respect for the class, the teachers and for the other students. Sometimes a late arrival is unavoidable but please note that your late entry into the class disturbs the flow of the class and can break the concentration of the other students. You should avoid coming late.

It should be noted that Aikido is not a sport. There are no divisions, competitions or Kumite. Rather, Aikido is actually a method of living and coexisting with your neighbor.

Aikido has been described as "The Art of Peace". The student can enter without fear of encountering an opponent of greater ability, weight or size. Children are excluded from the adult classes but, men and women can practice and advance without fear of being hurt or bullied.

    Aikido is For Everyone.
