    MANUAL DE SEIKIKAI

    SEIKIKAI INSTRUCTORS
"A Singular Dedication to Quality Instruction"

Seikikai Kaikan Live-In Program and Instructor Training (Uchideshi)

With the intention of improving student training and with the added objective of increasing the understanding of Aikido as it was left to us by the Founder, Seikikai is pleased to announce the re-opening of Seikikai Kaikan in Mexico. At this location, young men who wish to become professional instructors will receive instruction in technique and in the philosophy of Aikido according to the traditional Japanese system of apprenticeship. The entry requirements are stringent and only current or potential Seikikai members will be accepted. Questions regarding visas, etc. can be referred to our attorneys if your application is accepted. If you wish further information about this program please request information by e-mail: marcosbenitez@hotmail.com

    RETREATS

The kaikan offers stays of various lengths of time up to a year. During this time, the student will participate in all of the classes and in the operation of the kaikan. A stay in the kaikan is strictly regulated and is not to be considered a vacation. The student who is on retreat is not considered a guest and it is expected that the student participate fully in all activities. The objective is to experience the life of a teacher and to adjust to the style of life in the kaikan. In other words, you must adjust to the lifestyle of the kaikan, don't expect the kaikan to adjust itself to you.

    MANUAL DE UCHIDESHI

Some students may opt to continue their stay in the kaikan while they maintain their daily tasks (outside work or school.) Or perhaps the person desires to relocate to Mexico. This is fine but, regardless, you will be judged according to your attention to your responsibilities in the kaikan and must realize that the kaikan is the teacher's private residence. Therefore your stay will be subject to the needs of the kaikan and preference will be given to those who are qualified to be uchideshi. The kaikan is not a hostle and in the event that space is needed for new uchideshi you may be asked to leave. You might also be asked to leave for cause. Remember, the kaikan is a private residence and the sensei make the decision as to who will stay and who will leave.

Bear in mind too that you are a guest in our country. You must adhere strictly to any and all laws and regulations governing your stay in Mexico. If you do not have a visa that permits you to work, you will not take an outside job. In this case (that is, in most cases) you will demonstrate a secure source of outside income in your country of origin. Also, all dues or other costs associated with your Seikikai membership will be liquidated on or before the due date. There will be no grace period.

Occasionally, the kaikan will be opened to local members for gasshuku or other functions.

If you wish to experience the lifestyle of an Aikido professional we invite you to apply for admission to stay at the kaikan.
