DAILY CLASSES FOR ADULTS AND CHILDREN

TRAINING ALSO AVAILABLE IN TRADITIONAL KENJUTSU

Seikikai offers classes and seminars all year. (Please see our LOCATIONS). Go to these LINKS for information about CLINICS and SEMINARS.

In addition to a full range of classes, Seikikai schools also offer monthly clinics and a Summer Seminar, and a Winter Seminar led by Seikikai's chief instructors in San Luis Potosi, Mexico.

THE CLINICS

Our monthly clinics cover topics ranging from Ki Development to Ukemi (Falling). These clinics are led by the Chief Instructors of each of the local schools and are usually held at the San Luis Potosi location.

The clinics provide an opportunity to explore specific areas of Aikido training and culture in more depth. These classes are usually held once a month on a Saturday morning from 10 am - 12 pm or from 5 pm - 7 pm and are usually followed by lunch at a local buffet restaurant or as a potluck at the dojo. Clinics are generally available to the public by advance reservation.

THE SUMMER SEMINAR

Every summer Seikikai a seminar at our headquarters in San Luis Potosi, Mexico. Preference is given to Seikikai members who wish to attend our Summer Seminar, however, anyone wishing to attend should contact Seikikai if they are interested in attending and arrangements can usually be made. The Seminar dates are always posted on the "EVENTS"section of this website as soon as the exact date is known.

THE WINTER SEMINAR

The Winter Seminar or "Kagami Biraki" Seminar is held toward the end of January each year. This seminar is conducted by the Chief Instructors in the Mexico and is geared toward encouraging the students to take a fresh look at the new year. It is a 2-day seminar (weekend) and generally well attended.

Preference is given to Seikikai members who wish to attend our Summer Seminar, however, anyone wishing to attend should contact Seikikai if they are interested in attending and arrangements can usually be made. The Seminar dates are always posted on the "EVENTS" and "NEWS" sections of this website as soon as the exact date is known.

ADULT CLASSES

Adult classes are available daily at the San Luis Potosi Dojo. Attendance is available to all levels at these daily "General Classes". More advanced students have special classes available to them but the General Classes provide a challenge to even the most advanced students.

CHILDREN'S CLASSES

Children's classes are available 3 days a week. (Any class that falls on a Saturday may be replaced by a seminar). The classes are always taught by one of the chief instructors or an assistant who has been well supervised and approved for teaching children.

At Seikikai, we feel that the instruction of children is one of the most important aspects of our program. Words and actions are important. The instructors take a traditional and consistent approach to teaching Aikido technique and philosophy. Full support is given to parents. We teach respect, discipline, and gratitude.

KENJUTSU CLASSES SCHEDULE

Kenjutsu is distinct from Kendo. While Kendo offers the advantage of direct competition and a sense of "winning", Kenjutsu concentrates on correct use of the Japanese sword and strategy.

Kenjutsu also bears a direct relationship to the art and practice of Aikido. Many of the moves involved in Kenjutsu and Jodo (the art of the staff), are reflected in traditional Aikido.

There is 1 Kenjutsu class a week which may include jo instruction. These classes may be observed but we prefer that you make an appointment in advance.

OTHER ACTIVITIES

Every month Seikikai students participate in various outings, picnics, potlucks, swimming parties, and other celebrations and events. All events are suitable for the entire family.

We encourage you to come and watch our classes. When you arrive, someone will greet you at the door and take the time to answer any questions you may have. We are family-oriented. We have several entire families that attend classes.

Aikido classes are fun and entertaining. Aikido classes are unique. There are many possible choices you can make as to how you will spend your "disposable" income (is there such a thing?) But, Aikido offers you the opportunity to study a real martial art in a welcoming setting.

Aikido techniques are numerous and relatively complicated. But the techniques are secondary to learning how to re-shape our thinking. Aikido training offers you the ability to choose what you think, and how you view the world.

Come in and experience Traditional Aikido.
