"A Singular Dedication to Quality Instruction" THE KAIKAN
In order to further the training of the individual student and also in order to spread the understanding of Aikido as taught by the Founder, Seikikai is pleased to announce the opening of the Seikikai Kaikan. At this facility, young men who wish to become professional instructors are taught Aikido technique and philosophy in a traditional Japanese style apprenticeship. The entrance requirements are stringent and only people who are or wish to become Seikikai members are accepted. If you wish further information, please e-mail us at kaikan1@aikido-seikikai.com. RETREATS
Retreats are offered for periods of time from 1 week up to 1 year or more
at the Kaikan. During this time, the individual participates in all classes
and in the day-to-day operation of the Kaikan. Discipline is strict and
the retreat is not to be considered a vacation. Those on retreat are not
guests. The individual is expected to participate fully in all activities.
The object is to learn what Sensei's life is like and to try to make adjustments
in your own lifestyle. In other words, you must adjust to the Kaikan, it
will not adjust to you.
Some students might opt to use the Kaikan as a place to live while they
continue their day-to-day activities (such as work or school). Or perhaps
they are relocating to the Northwest. This is fine, however, each applicant
will be screened for suitability since the Kaikan is also the sensei's
place of residence. Also, space is limited and preference will be given
to qualified uchideshi applicants.
Periodically, the Kaikan will be open to members of the (Seikikai) dojos
for gasshuku and other functions.
If you wish to experience an Aikido lifestyle, you are welcome to apply
for admission to the Kaikan for a retreat. For an application, e-mail us
at retreat@aikido-seikikai.com.
